11. Role of culture in life

First I would like to speak what exactly culture is. The definition of culture is very long and complicated. Culture consists of art, styles of dress, language, rules of behaviour, religion, technology or political and economic systems.It´s an issue which has big influence on our life or our style of life.

I think culture is everywhere around us. You can look for example on our clothes. What we are wearing is culture too. In Iran people wear different clothes than in India. It depends on environment, society and often on religion. In India is more liberty. I am a woman so I am thinking about women. Typical is long and colorful scarf which called Sárí. We can see woman´s body. There is more liberty than in Iran. Men have really big power of women and children. Women have to be all hooded so we can see mostly only eyes. In Muslim states are not many places for fun like in our country. We can go to the theatre, cinema or some concert. For women in Iran is impossible go to the pub and have a fun.

Who can imagine live without sport? Without tennis court or bowling. I can´t imagine this far world. We can do everything what we want. Meet friends, marry who we want and have the same power like men.

But this situation wasn´t in the past. In architecture were big rules. Romanesque style with painted ceilings, gothic style with ribbed vault and so on. People in these ages had to keep the rules of styles. And today we have many sights like churches, cathedrals, castles but also theater. Literature has also special styles for these ages. And unfortunately writers were sometimes dissatisfaction, so they were writing about everything, and now we should read about it. I like reading books but I rather go on musicals or operas or watching movies. Also I have favorite museum. It´s crib museum. Every Christmas we go there. Celebrations relate to culture. Main Christian feasts are Christmas and Easter. Other cultures don´t have Christmas. I think that’s a pity. I know they have any other feasts but I love Christmas time. Snow, my all family, presents and sweets.

I live in Varnsdorf and we have many churches, one cinema and theatre, library and many clubs and pubs. In culture house are dance lessons. I really liked to go in dance lessons. Sometimes I go with my friends to disco or to pub. New place for young people is in Varnsdorf Park near the library. It is favorite place of teenagers with alcohol. I can see change between our thirteen and their thirteen. We tried to be invisible and we scared of police but they don´t. I can´t understand. I would like to bring up my children for example in a village. There isn’t cinema or theatre but there is better environment. I hate Varnsdorf because it is full of violence and bad men.
