The balcony scene is the most important part of the play. It is the place where Juliet declares her love for Romeo at the window only to be overheard by Romeo  

  This scene constitutes a highlight in the play. The dialogue between the lovers is characterized by passion and ecstasy which make it highly romantic. Both speak with genuine feelings and are aware of the risks they ate taking but the risk doesn’t dampen their spirits

 The balcony scene is about ‘love is blind’. Juliet carries on a conversation with herself not knowing that Romeo is just a few steps from her. She asks “art though not Romeo and a Montague”. Romeo replies “neither fair maid if either thee dislike”. Juliet also asks how Romeo finds her and climbs over the wall. She tells him that he would die “if any of my kinsmen find thee”. Romeo replies that he “with love’s light wings do I o’erperch these walls, for stony limits cannot hold love out” and continues to say that he can risk his life to see her.

This scene is also about love in conflict. The main internal conflict is that, Juliet struggles with the fact that she is a Capulet and the person she loves (Romeo) is a Montague. From the 1st time that Juliet appears in the balcony this conflict is evident. Juliet says “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore are thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name” and she says that if the conditions require it, she will renounce her name in order to be with Romeo.
