The Fair Ground

The sicking sweet smell of candy-floss danced through the air enchanting little children to nag their parents for the tooth decaying, enticingly pink sugar filled treat. A gang of scrawny little louts slumped against the side of the mesmerizing new ride: The Rocket Launcher. The leader,proudly showing of his underwear that was in much need of a wash, stood with his back to his group. To the left of him ....something appeared. Something whose skin tone could have made an umpa lumpa jealous. It was soon established that she was in-fact underwear boy’s girlfriend.She seemed less than impressed when he grabbed her arm, and sloppily smacked his lips on her.

The sudden eruption of noise came as the intimidatingly high “Rocket Launcher” abruptly came to life. An accelerated scream came from above as bodies, all shapes and sizes, were shot into the air at supersonic speed. The bitter smell of sick became more intense as you passed the “exit” sign like a warning telling them not to eat before riding. The Burger Van was becoming increasingly busy as the night went on, the youth serving was almost, if not greasier than the burgers themselves. He occasionally wiped the sweat from his forehead and added that as a free topping to someone’s burger. The stench of cooked fat smothered the air and overrode any pre-existent smells.

The lights looked even more magnificent against the jet black sky. The lights were so inviting: the ruby red through the sky looked like a pair of seductive lips that at first glance had everyone hooked.The kind that spoke teasingly and before you knew it, you were standing at entrance of the fair ground.

At the far right of the fair two screaming children tried to escape from the giant,which now had two pink candy-floss filled hands.Finally he caught one of the children and scooped her into his arms. The other child stopped dead as he realized that the giant chasing him was far from a jolly giant that he had beenearlier on that day. The giant seized the dumbstruck child. Looking around to see in anyone had noticed his heavy handling of the children he calmly walked from the fair. Although the twitching in his left eye and hand warned everyone that the jolly giant was long gone. He effortlessly threw the petrified children into the back of the car. There was a sticker on the back window ..... that sticker read: “Best Daddy In The World”. With that the car skidded out of the spare ground and was off into the black velvet night.
