Romeo and Juliet essay:

The Nature of Love in Romeo and Juliet

In the play “Romeo and Juliet” the main theme of the play is love. There are many different kinds of love in “Romeo and Juliet”. Nowadays we generally think of love as only being between lovers or family but in “Romeo and Juliet” there is also the love between friends and the idea of “courtly love” but there is the love of everyone by Friar Lawrence.

At the start of the play in Act 1, Scene 1 after the fight the first concept of love is introduced. This love is the paternal love of a mother to her son, this occurs in Act 1, Scene 1, Line 110
