This game was the talk of the week at school. Our goal was to win that night and we wouldn't let anything stop us. At the end of the day, I met my goal, but the team didn't.

All I could think about was the game on the way to school and how we needed to win. I had my music turned all the way up so I could be pumped. I arrived at school and parked in my usual spot. As I got out my car, I saw white jerseys everywhere. All of my teammates were getting out of their cars and going into the school. That night we were playing Auburn. We both were undefeated at the time. When I walked in the school, everybody was pumped and excited about the game. I was excited in my classes that day, but still did my work. I started drawing the plays so I could remember them. Nobody wanted to go home that day. After school, we ate our pregame dinner and prepared to go. We prayed for a safe ride, loaded the bus and were on our way.

It was almost game time. We arrived at the field and were so excited. We got off the bus and went to our spot on the field. We did our pregame warm ups and drill. Coach made me captain that game so I felt pretty good. The coach made me captain because he believes in me. He picked me because I know the trick play for the defense. It was kick-off time when I looked in the stadium to see my family. I thought to myself, I have to work hard this game. The game started off well. We did exactly what we were supposed to. Their offense was coming down the field and our defense got ready for them. We did pretty well the first quarter. We were up when half-time came. I was upset to have some teammates that were ready to give up. We had a big turnaround for the worst. The other team kicked the ball off but our receiver dropped the ball. He tried to get the fumble but the other team got the ball back on the five yard line. After this they kept scoring and we were losing.

We lost the game. The game was over and a lot of people were disappointed. I was mad we lost but was proud that I got a lot of tackles. I couldn't give up on my team like some of the others. I guess I got about eleven or twelve tackles, but I stopped counting. Yet I was still hurt we lost and so were my teammates who were in tears. Our fans were let down because the thought we didn't play hard enough. The next morning the defensive team had report to the school. We had to watch a tape of the game. I thought I had eleven or twelve tackles but the tape showed seventeen. We all had goals to do certain things that game and achieved them. I was just happy I achieved mine. No matter what happens if you can't win as a team you can win by yourself.
