What do we learn about the theme of love and marriage in the first 45 pages of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice?

Pride and Prejudice was written at the time when France was at war (the battle of Waterloo). A lady called Jane Austen wrote it. She was about the age of 17. Jane wrote a lot of her story on the themes of love and marriage. This is the main theme in the book. Even though she never experienced marriage she was very fascinated in it.

Women during this era in time if weren't married were thought of as being poor. Therefore finding a man at this age was one of women's main priorities. Most single women were usually either working though acting or teachers. These jobs were really looked down on mainly by the men. It was thought that 'marriage was the only way of life' a critical view by Fredrick Bramley. The reason for marriage was not always for the reasons of love. On a lot of occasion the reason was money. Money to support the women and also their families. This was an acknowledgement of middle class greed.

We learn in the first 45 pages of 'Pride and Prejudice' of a character called Mrs Bennet who a mother of five daughter who she desperately wants them to get married.
