What has the play blood brothers to say about the importance of the family and relationships? The plays key elements are relationship and families. The play deals with fate and superstition, poverty and wealth. It shows that relationships can be hurtful and painful and the importance of motherhood and up bringing of your own child. The play shows the conflict between Mickey, Eddie and Linda. And the hideous secret Mrs. Lyons and Mrs. Johnston hide. The Play shows the importance of trust between families. The suffering starts early on in the play when Mrs. Johnston is forced to give her baby away. She is blackmailed by Mrs. Lyons because she says “If he grew up here as our son he could have everything” This tells us Mrs. Lyons is taking advantage of her wealth so that she can have the baby. Mrs. Lyons also mentions that Mrs. Johnston is already in trouble with the welfare which makes Mrs. Johnston think it’s a better idea to give one of her baby s away. Mrs. Lyons makes her swear down on the bible. She is taking advantage of Mrs. Johnston again because she knows she’s a strong Christian and will find it very hard to go back on her word. I mean it’ll just be like he’s living in another house” But really Mrs. Johnston knows that it won’t be like that and it will be Mrs. Lyons son not hers. When Mrs. Johnston says this Mrs. Lyons isn’t listening and just agrees with what she says the make Mrs. Johnston not feel as bad about giving one of her baby s away. In the next scene Mrs. Johnston starts to show her guilt and pain, while Mrs. Lyons is more bothered what other people think. In this scene you realize that Mrs. Lyons is very selfish and thinks of herself and not her actions. When the twins are born the mother wants to keep them both for a while but you see Mrs. Lyons

selfish side again when she says “My husband is due back tomorrow! I must have my baby now” she again doesn’t think about Mrs. Johnston’s feelings. She is starting to kid herself that it is actually is her baby and she just gave Birth. This would have broken Mrs. Johnston’s heart because this would be the last time this would ever be properly be her baby. Mrs. Lyons gives Mrs. Johnston a week off work; I think she’s done this because she doesn’t want Mrs. Johnston interfering with her new baby. When Mrs. Johnston goes back to work she tries ...
