Extracts from this document...

Introduction

Women should stay at home and look after children rather than go out to work. Discuss. The thesis above is very general, and it is necessary to clarify which women it applies to. I think we are talking about healthy women fit to work and those who are mothers. Mothers can be married or unmarried, and among unmarried mothers we have: divorced women, widows and single women. Nowadays according to statistics around 40% of women are not married and the majority of them are single parents, so it depends which group is analysed. Some times it can cause women depression. I think that a happy and fulfilling woman is a much better mother and wife, than alienated and grumpy person. All arguments in favour of going out to work are the same for all mothers: married and unmarried. The equal opportunity law also has to be mentioned, which gives same rights for women and men. Finally, I think that the thesis of this essay is old-fashioned and the decision how to organise family's life belongs to families. It is well known that sometimes fathers decide to stay at home and look after their children, because their wives earn more money, which shows parents' flexibility and sense as well as responsibility. ...read more.
