GCSE Health and Social care is an ideal preparation for anyone contemplating a career in the social care or health professions such as nursing, social work or care home assistant. Whilst itcan be studied as a single award it is more common for students to study the subject as a double award which means you'll be getting two GCSE grades.

You'll be studying a wide range of topics and subjects from across the caring professions and healthcare industry. Typically you'll be studying health and social care, early years provision, promoting health and well-being, and understanding personal developments and relationships. The assessment for the course is done by both internal means and external examination. The former includes your teachers marking portfolios of work you will have prepared for two topics and the latter includes a testwhich will require you to write short and extended essay answers.
