Introduction

Visit Five Date- 25th December 2003 Time - 8:30am People Present - Myself, Jessica, Her mum and dad Aims - Today I am going to Jessica's house to see Jessica's reactions on opening her Christmas presents. I am going to look at Jessica's emotional and social development and I am also going to observe how Jessica reacts to me been there and also how she reacts to her father been there. Expectations- When I am at Jessica's house I expect Jessica to be very excited and happy since it is Christmas day. I think Jessica's initial reaction when she walks into the living room to find all of her presents will be surprising at first but then I expect her to get extremely happy. I think Jessica will be very egocentric and will want everyone to pay attention to her. I think Jessica will pay more attention to the actual wrapping paper than she will to the present and I think she will enjoy ripping her presents open. ...read more.

done was she went and checked if Santa had eaten the cookies and if the reindeers had drank the milk, once she had checked them she looked at the three of us and said do you know Santa has been, and then she jumped up and down shouting Santa. When Jessica had finally calmed down she ran over to her pile of presents and started to violently rip the paper off, then she would chuck the paper in the air and let it fall back down to the ground and shout yippee, Jessica seemed to be amused by this process and repeated doing this three times for each present she opened. Jessica did not seem to notice the presents she was getting and seemed extremely interested in the wrapping paper as I thought she would be. When Jessica came to opening her final present she took a lot of notice to what it was as it was the doll that she had been longing for. ...read more.

Conclusion

Jessica got some new shoes with a lace for Christmas and she tried to fasten the lace but got in a very big muddle and she got annoyed when she could not do this. Emotional- Jessica was very egocentric and she believed that everyone should be focussed on her. Jessica was very happy for the duration of the visit and only got annoyed when she could not tie her shoe. Jessica is always a very happy child and she was defiantly like that today. Jessica had lots of energy and never wanted to be quiet or sit down. Conclusion- I really enjoyed spending Christmas morning with Jessica as its really nice to see how excited children get and it makes you think, I used to be like that once. I was really pleased the way Jessica acted and it was funny the way Jessica reacted to the wrapping paper. I am really pleased how well Jessica and me are getting on because I never used to see her before I started this project and now I look forward to spending time with her and I know she looks forward to our visits together. ...read more.
