I hope this letter reaches your holiness in the best of health.

The reason for my correspondence is that I’m looking to divorce my wife Catherine of Aragon. This marriage was never meant to be, even from day one. The marriage was based around the two great nations, England and Spain and was a means to bring us together and to carry on the relationship with that country. However, this marriage has brought   no sons or heirs to my throne. My kingdom cannot be left in the hands of my only child – a girl. She cannot lead an army or even stop a civil war, and due to this I wish to marry Anne Bohlen who has promised me many strong and healthy sons who will look after my kingdom when I am gone.

Also, Catherine of Aragon is too old to have more children. I am perfectly fine with having a daughter, but I am not fine seeing my daughter becoming Queen of England and fighting against wars. I want to also say that Anne will help me bring up the sons and feed them well, she has also said that she will do anything to bring up a healthy son.
