Evaluation of Software

I thought it was relatively easy to use Microsoft Access.

The report was an effective way to present my data, as it was shown in a printed format. I had control over the appearance of everything on the report and so I could display the information in a way which I wanted everyone to see. I thought that Microsoft Access was the ideal software for creating reports as it was rather easy to use, once you knew what to do.

To create a report using wizard I clicked on reports then create report using wizard. Then I selected the fields which I wanted to view on my form and clicked NEXT. I chose the layout and style. I then gave my report a name and then finally clicked finish. If then I chose to change the design of my report I simply clicked on the design button.

I thought it was again an effective way to present my data and a very good idea to create a form using the wizard. This is because, as I am not an advanced user, the wizard gave me some guidance.

To create my form using a wizard I clicked on the ‘forms’ button then I double-clicked on create form using wizard. I then selected the fields I wanted on my form. I clicked NEXT then I chose my layout and style. I clicked NEXT and then gave my form a name. I finally opened the form and entered the information ...

Here's what a star student thought of this essay

The report talks about the process that the student has undertook to achieve the Access Database. However the report doesn't include screenshots which are needed to enable the examiner to visualize the report. The report states the term 'primary key', however this isn't within the report. A primary key is an field on the database, which numbers the records. If a user were to link a table to another a user is able to link a primary key to a foreign key.

The report states that the drawback, was that you cannot make graphs. However the student hasn't given the reason to state why this was an issue. Fro my own experience, when user uses an database, it's not necessary to use graphs, and I'm not too sure why the student wanted to use a graph.

In summary, the report is quite basic. The report does state a number of tables, forms and queries that there have designed. However there haven't explained some of these sections in detail, and I believe there have assumed that everyone would understand the report which clearly everyone isn't going to understand some of the technical terms used, which are unexplained. The report states that the student has chosen their layout and deigns. However what was this? The student would need explain what layout and overall style there design on their Access Database, as the report is missing this information.
