I could also create the advertisement manually by typing the text and/or cutting out pictures of magazines and then simply pasting it onto a page. This would make it easier to use my desired layout, however it will not look professional and it may also take more time, as it will be difficult to correct mistakes.
My objectives for creating a promotional advertisement for Afghanistan are as follows:
- To make it good enough so that it can appear in magazines and billboards.
- To include pictures of the country- places, map or flag.
- To make it look attractive, interesting and appealing to tourists.
- Must include travel agency details.
ANALYSIS
To produce the poster and magazine advertisement I will need to use different hardware and software.
The hardware, which I may use, is a scanner (to scan images from books, magazines etc straight onto the computer and insert into the document) and a printer (to produce the final printed advertisement, poster).
I will mainly be using the schools computers which are in a network, this will be good because I would not have to wait for a certain computer, I can use any available. But, I may also use my home computer, which is a standalone; I will need to save my work on disk so I could also work on the project at home,
The main software that I will be using is ‘MS Publisher 2000’; I will use this software to implement my designs onto the computer. I may also use ‘MS Paint’, as some images may need to be cropped- to show only the parts needed. If I use the scanner I will also use another software called ‘Imaging’ this will allow me to make images brighter or darker so that it look good when it is printed out.
The data that I will need are images of Afghanistan and information about the country put in as text. There are many sources of where I could get the data that I will need but I will be using the Internet and magazines because I think it is the most time efficient way to get the data I need.
The poster and magazine advertisement must look professional and have no mistakes. I will avoid mistakes by using the spellchecker in MS Publisher to correct any spelling mistakes I may have and it will also proof read it automatically to fix my grammar. To check if I am doing everything correctly I can check my objective to make sure I am on track in creating the desired outcome. Also, I will need to make printouts, as it will show me how it will look for real, I will be using the schools and my home printer.
Flow chart of design:
As I will be using both home and school computers, I will need to save work on floppy disk so that I can manipulate the data at home and at school. Using a floppy disk is useful because it reduces the risk of data lose just in case if the system breaks down or work is deleted accidentally from the hard drive.
