Introduction

My aim is to create a system to store on computer all the information a car garage needs including a full list of cars the garage has, along with details of these for example the colour of the car or the year of manufacture. Also a list of customers names and addresses will be kept so that they can be informed of dates and times for repairs etc, or for news about offers. Also the customer will be able to search for the ideal specifications of a car for example a black ford with a CD player and alloys for under 5000. Having this system on computer would be far easier than having to do the same functions manually, it would also be far more efficient and up to date. Firstly I will have to create an easily accessible list of cars with there specific details, then I will have to find a way to search for a car with the specifications that the customer wants. ...read more.

Benefits Of Updating If both the records of cars and the customer's files were put onto computer then all records would be in the same place, clearing office space and helping towards the smoother running of the company, customer records would be accessible at the same time as looking at the car the garage has. Everything would be much easier faster and more accurate than the existing system. Saving our employees time and providing a better service for our customers than we are able to at present. Now instead of flicking through the card filing system, which is outdated and time consuming, to find a car now all employees will have to do is set up a search and the customer can enter his or her ideal car and it will give a list of choices on the screen of the computer in a matter of seconds. I will use a questionnaire to ask employees about change o the current system so they can use suggestions and comment about their own experiences with the current system. ...read more.

Conclusion

To set up a search function for customers to find their ideal car I will again use Microsoft access and the queries function on this program which will enable a customer to select the fields he requires for his car and then show him a list of compatible cars. Comparison table of Microsoft excel and Microsoft access Activity Microsoft Access Microsoft excel Searches Can be made easily using the 'Queries' Function of this program. You can 'filter' the information on the page to leave the information you want. Charts Charts of information can be formed with each specific area of information listed at the top and details listed below. Charts of information can be formed with each specific area of information listed at the top and details listed below. Mail Merge Mail merge is effective and easy to use.
