Introduction

Report 3A: Impact of the ICT on the way you do things at home and at school/ college. Introduction For my report I will investigate and describe the impact of ICT on the way I do things at home and at school. This will also include how it affects me personally and socially. There are many ICT technologies which help me both in school and at home but I will be investigating five which are email, SMS, World Wide Web, WAP and PC technology. How do the ICT technologies I have mentioned above meet my needs? Internet- email Email and electronic mail enables me to send and receive messages including pictures, reports and videos almost anything that can be converted and sent by a telephone signa. Originally you needed a computer to send and receive messages although now it is possible to access email through the television and mobile phones. The advantages of email: * It is an easy access and straight forward to use * You can send emails to anyone in the world * You can also email people through the television and mobile phone by using more advanced technology. * You can send and receive messages really quickly so you don't have to wait a long time. * You can also send videos and pictures to friends and family who live a very far distance away from you and cannot contact you often through the telephone. ...read more.

It meets my needs well as I can communicate with people efficiently. Internet - World Wide Web: This is what the www stands for at the beginning of a web address. This is basically what the internet is. It is a network of networks (a number of computers all linked together) which has created a web affect where each computer can access every other computer in the network. This web now covers the whole world. How does World Wide Web help me at home personally? At home personally I need to search for information for my school work or other important information like what time a movie will be showed at the local cinemas. World Wide Web helps me to do this because I am able to find information quickly and easily for example if I wanted to find out what time a movie was showing in local cinemas I would use different web sites so that I can find out. Personally World Wide Web has met my needs because I am able to use it to search for things such as time of a movie when it starts. It could be better if it was faster. How does World Wide Web help me in school? At school I need to search for information related to my work such as ICT I have to look for a variety of stuff such as the cheapest deals on mobile phones and so on. ...read more.

How does Microsoft word help me in school? At school I need to type up documents quickly so that my work is finished quickly. Microsoft helps me to do this because it makes my work neat and tidy so I don't have to watch my handwriting to see if my teacher can read it or not. I usually use it for my English coursework's as it helps with my grammar and spelling mistakes. Microsoft word meets my needs in school because I am able to finish my work easily. It could be better if it had more advanced functions. How does Microsoft word help me socially? Socially I need to type letters to my friends and family. I send letters to my friends and family who live abroad. Microsoft word helps me to do this because it makes my work tidy and look neat so that my friends and family are able to read it easily. Socially Microsoft word meets my needs because I am able to write letters to my friends and family. Evaluation: At home personally Microsoft word helps me to finish my work quickly at school I can type up documents and letters using templates and fonts and colors to make it stand out finally socially I can type up letters to my friends and family and they are able to read it easily.
