How does email help me socially?
Socially I need to send emails to my friends and family who live abroad and I cannot contact them very much. I use email to send my friends and family emails for example my cousin who lives in India is not able to phone me very often because it costs a lot of money so we email each other through email that way we can keep in touch more often. Socially email meets my needs very well as I am able to send emails to my friends and family.
Evaluation:
Email meets my needs a lot because I can contact my friends easily and quickly and it is very cheap. I can communicate with anyone in the world and keep all my connections with my friends and family by emailing them.
Mobile phone- SMS
SMS is a short messaging service which able you to send text messages through your phone to other people. You don’t have to call them just send messages. People can contact you easily and you can also contact them form where ever you are.
Advantages of SMS:
- It is a quick and easy way to contact people
- It costs less than calling someone
- You can use it from where ever you are.
The disadvantages of SMS:
- If there is no reception than they might not get the message straight away they might get it a few hours later.
- No guarantee that people will receive the message if they live abroad
How does SMS help me at home personally?
In my personal life I need to contact my friends when I am at home, I can contact them from wherever I am and so they can is well. SMS helps me to communicate with my friends and family easily because I can text my friends and family and they can also contact me easily. For example if we are going out I just need to text them where we are going and what time we will meet. SMS meets my needs personally because I am able to communicate with my friends and family.
How does SMS help me in school?
At school I need to contact my parents in case I am going to be late going home or I can text them in case of an emergency and they can contact me is well. SMS helps me to do this by helping me to send messages fast and easily to my friends and family for example they are able to contact me in school if they are not able to pick me up. I use SMS to contact my family when it is an emergency. In school SMS meets my needs very well because I can send text messages to my family in case of an emergency.

SMS helps me to do this as it is cheaper for example I can text my family who live abroad and who cannot contact me very often. Internet – World Wide Web:
This is what the www stands for at the beginning of a web address. This is basically what the internet is. It is a network of networks (a number of computers all linked together) which has created a web affect where each computer can access every other computer in the network. This web now covers the whole world.
How does World Wide Web help me at home personally?
At home personally I need to search for information for my school work or other important information like what time a movie will be showed at the local cinemas. World Wide Web helps me to do this because I am able to find information quickly and easily for example if I wanted to find out what time a movie was showing in local cinemas I would use different web sites so that I can find out. Personally World Wide Web has met my needs because I am able to use it to search for things such as time of a movie when it starts. It could be better if it was faster.
How does World Wide Web help me in school?
At school I need to search for information related to my work such as ICT I have to look for a variety of stuff such as the cheapest deals on mobile phones and so on. World Wide Web helps me to do this because I can access different websites to compare prices with other websites it is quick and easy and helps me to do my work really fast. World Wide Web meets my needs very well because I am able to search for information that is for my school work. It could be better if the connection to the internet was faster.
How does World Wide Web help me socially?
In my social life I need to look for good places to go out on Saturdays with my friend and family. World Wide Web helps me to do this by helping me to search for good websites so that I can recommend it to my friends and family. Socially World Wide Web meets my needs because I am able to compare prices of things such as the cheapest CD player and so on.

World Wide Web has helped me a lot in my social life as I can find good places to go out with my friends and family it has also helped me personally as I can find information related to my work and other important information. Finally it has helped me a lot in school as I can find websites to compare prices of certain items that my teacher sets. The World Wide Web makes it really easy to look up information as you don’t need to look in books all you need to do is type in a website.
Communication- WAP
Wireless application protocol or WAP is an open international standard for applications which enable internet access using a mobile.
Advantages of WAP:
- You can use it wherever you are without a computer
- WAP is cheaper.
Disadvantages of WAP:
- You need to have a mobile phone to use it
- It is not as fast as GPRS and may take very long to search for stuff and information

At home personally I need to send emails to my friends and family without having a computer. WAP helps me to do this because I am able to send emails through my phone for example if I didn’t have a chance to contact my friends I can email them through my phone from wherever I am. WAP meets my needs personally because I am able to have internet wherever I go. It could be better if in some places there was good reception.
How does WAP help me in school?
At school I don’t need to use WAP very often because there is not much reception which means low connectivity and would make it really slow to use carrying internet around on your phone is really useful. At school WAP does not meet my needs very well as there is not much reception and so the internet connection is really bad.
How does WAP help me socially?

At home personally its quick and easy way of contacting people without a computer at school I am not able to use WAP because there is not much reception and so the internet would be slow and finally in my social life my friends can contact me wherever I am. WAP plays a big part in my life as I don’t need a computer to send emails all I need is my mobile phone.
Pc technology- Microsoft word
Microsoft word is a program which enables you to type different documents with the help of templates and is very fast. It also can help with appearance as you can change the size and color of your font and color of background you can also choose a different writing style to make it look attracting and eye catching.
Advantages of Microsoft word:
- It is easy to type letters
- You are helped with spellings
- Fast
- Can use pictures and word art so that you can make your document look attracting and make it stand out.
- Font can be changed
Disadvantages of Microsoft word:
- It can often freeze if too much data is put in
- If your work is not saved it could be lost
How does Microsoft word help me at home personally?
At home I need to type up my work. I can type up letters really easily and also type up my school work. Microsoft word helps me to do this because it contains templates so that it makes letter typing easier for example if I needed to do a letter for English homework all I need to do is find a letter template and start writing my letter and I can add different pictures and fonts to go with it as well. Microsoft word meets my needs very well because I am able to type up letters and other documents. It could be better if it saved by itself so that I don’t have to worry about loosing it.

At school I need to type up documents quickly so that my work is finished quickly. Microsoft helps me to do this because it makes my work neat and tidy so I don’t have to watch my handwriting to see if my teacher can read it or not. I usually use it for my English coursework’s as it helps with my grammar and spelling mistakes. Microsoft word meets my needs in school because I am able to finish my work easily. It could be better if it had more advanced functions.
