Question 3;       At what age is homosexual sex allowed?

Our research showed that over half the males knew the correct age of consent for male homosexual sex and the majority of women were also aware of the legal age of consent.*

Research conducted and produced in Sexual Behaviour in Britain (pub.1994) used 18,876 male and female participants.  Most of the participants were aware of the correct legal age of consent for male homosexual sex.

  • we are presuming that this question was related to male homosexuals and not females.

Question 4;       In your opinion what age should homosexual sex be

allowed?

A total of 15/25 males in our research viewed 18 or 21 years old to be an appropriate age.  Although 4/5 of the 16-21 year olds said it should not be allowed.  The majority of females, a total of 23/25, pointed to 16 or 18 years as being an acceptable age.  None of the females said it should not be allowed.  Overall only 16/50 men and women felt that the legal age should that of the same as heterosexuals.

SCPR’s survey of 600 heterosexuals (1992) showed that 74% believed the age of consent should be the same for homosexuals as for heterosexuals.

Question 6;       It should be legal to get married to a person of the same

sex.

Many women respondent ‘yes’ to this statement, with only 2 believing that marriage should not be allowed between same sex couples.  By contrast, the males showed that few of them agreed with this statement, generally showing that they were either unsure or it should not be allowed – especially the younger age group.
