Which is easier to read Tabloids or Broadsheets ?

I will be finding out how easy it is to read different Newspapers. I will be using The Times, the Sun and the Daily Mail. All three are different in the way that the Times is a broadsheet, the Sun is a tabloid and The Daily Mail is a bit of both, which is called a Middle-brow.

My Hypothesis

Tabloids

Broadsheets

* They are easier to read

* They are shorter

* It has shorter words

* It has fewer words

* Longer articles

* Longer words

* Harder to read

* More words

I have chosen these Newspapers as I can look at each newspaper in separate, due to one being a tabloid , another being a Broadsheet and then one newspaper being mixed of both.

To avoid possible bias due to each newspaper being based on the say editorial, I have decided to have a way of only picking certain words this way it is fair. I am going to choose each 8th word, therefore it will be fair, and I choose this word by using a calculator. Ii used my calculator as I knew it would be fairer to press the random button on my calculator than guessing any number from the top of my head, it appeared on my calculator as 0.8 so I used the first significant number. I will go through each article picking every 8th word and counting the number of letters in each word and making a tally chart of my results for each article. I have decide to count 40 words in each piece of writing, in this case it will make it more manageable and it is then enough words for me be able to represent for this piece of coursework.

I will be collecting all of my data in a tally chart and make a bar graph of all my data , then further on I will be making another three tally charts of results for how many words there are in a sentence I will be creating a cumulative frequency table and graph ,( I chose not to use a bar graph as I feel that my data would then be inaccurate and hard to read) for those results to support by hypothesis and come to a conclusion.
