So, with so much being talked about the film, lets see what the movie is all about and if it is really worth all of the praise. The film is about how a normal boy who lives in the slums of india, becomes a millionaire by winning in a reality show, in which the winner is awarded two million Indian rupees. In American dollars, that is an absurd amount of money. So the screenplay goes like this, a boy who lives in the slums of some Indian village, goes through many tough situation as he grows up, by which he earns some knowledge on different things and places he has encountered, which ultimately helps him to win the reality show called 'who wants to be a millionaire.
The scenes kind of go back and forth between him being questioned in a police station, and him actually winning on the game show and him growing up. So the movie is presented in a way where the boy proves his innocence and also becomes a millionaire. But the thing, is it is more of an Indian film than a Hollywood film, by the looks of it, which makes it really interesting to watch and unlike all other movies.
Basically, this movie is very intense and interesting to watch. I would say it is one of the best films ever made. In my opinion, this movie has projected India as a third world country full of poverty, which is not the case in all parts of India .Yes, there is poverty in India, but the level of poverty is much less compared to what has been projected. This is the only downfall that I could recognize in the film. Overall, I strongly suggest this film as a must watch, for its very good screenplay, great music and very good direction. And, If you are used to watching regular movies with the same plot over and over, you must see this movie due to its extremely unique structure the director has made it become.
