¡Madrid! ¡Madrid!’

The battle of Madrid gave an important turn to the war, therefore up till then, in spite of the duroscombates, both edicts had mobilized few troops. The republicans, with an army in phase of militarization, they organized the composed, mixed brigades for some 4.000 men of different bodies and weapons. Franco discovered that the war could not last only some months, for which redefined its strategy and organization, being directed to other points to isolate the capital and to reduce the territory controlled by the Popular Front.
If you have no idea at all about the general situation in the Spanish Civil War at this time, let's say that the Nationalist hopes of a quick occupation of Madrid were fading away. After an initial direct drive towards the capital had failed, The Nationalists launched a series of less direct approaches, encirclement attempts, most of which were partial successes, but partial was not enough. Roughly in the period of our fictional campaign, two major and final offensives were launched: the Jarama and the Guadalajara battles ensued. The Nationalists were once again beaten back, their forces depleted; at Guadalajara, in particular, the Italian CTV suffered a serious defeat. After that, the Nationalists switched to a peripherical strategy, leaving the lines near Madrid almost stationary for the rest of the war.
the four Italian divisions (three of them formed by Fascist militia) recently arrived from the sideshow campaign of Malaga. The plan was to attack from Guadalajara towards the Madrid-Valencia road. This offensive would serve to show the world the might of the new fascist army and its modern mechanized war tactics. Nevertheless, the battle of Guadalajara, fought out in the windswept steppes of Castille, and against some of the better units of the Ejército Popular, was going to be really different from Málaga...
Los republicanos had air supremacy. Franco spent all its reserves without achieving its main objetive of isolating Madrid. In March, the second arm of the pincer was launched on to Guadalajara but failed too.
During the winter of 1936 to 1937, in Madrid and in the windswept steppes around the capital the war between Spaniards turned from an amateur affair into a professional war
The Western democracies protested but did nothing. The Soviet Union alone responded to the breakdown of nonintervention by supplying arms to the Republican side. Soviet supplies were of great importance (tanks, aircraft, and a military mission) after October 1936. The Communist International also organized the International Brigades. In 1938, Soviet supplies dropped off, and the balance of arms supply was decisively in favour of the Nationalists. Once the Popular Army replaced the militia, the republic held Madrid and defeated two flanking attacks in the battles of Jarama (February 1937) and Guadalajara (March 1937), where the International Brigades decisively defeated a motorized Italian corps.
In 1937 the fascist army led by General Orgaz was not able to reach Madrid. It was stopped, with great losses, at Jarama Valley, by the Republican Spanish Army helped by the 14 th and 15 th International Brigades and the Abraham Lincoln batalion.
I propose to commemorate now the best of the best, these young, brave people from all the world that came in support of the Spanish people, that fight at Jarama,Madrid,
