Je vais parler de la participation de la France dans le Concours de Chanson d’Eurovision. Eurovision est un concours de la chanson populaire européenne qui est télévisé chaque année dans l’Europe.

La France a commencé à participer au début. Le concours est télévisé sur le kanal France 3 depuis 1999, et la demi-finale est télévisée sur France 4. La France a gagné le concours cinq fois, et le concours est très populaire dans l’Hexagone. Il y a 10 millions de téléspectateurs normalement.

La première entrée française en 1956 était « Le Temps Perdu » par Mathé Altéry.

Le plus mauvais résultat pour la France était en 1998, quand Marie Line a chanté « Où Aller ? ».

This essay is well written, the candidate has used a variety of different tenses and constructions, and there are no major grammatical errors. The candidate has for some reason used the German spelling Kanal instead of canal to mean ‘channel’, although this is a very minor error. Ensure that you proofread your work before submitting it.

The candidate has included a lot of information about Eurovision, such as the date it began, how it is broadcast in France, and some of the songs that have represented France over the years. The candidate could have developed his or her opinions on the contest and bit more fully, we are only really told “Pour moi, les chansons françaises sont lentes, mélodiques et elles sont d'ordinaire les chansons d'amour et avec des paroles agréables.” An A* candidate should look to express developed opinions and viewpoints on a couple of points in order to get a high mark.

The candidate has answered the question well, providing a lot of background information on the Eurovision song contest and the French involvement in it, however it need a lot more development in terms of the candidate expressing his or her opinions. Simply writing more would improve this essay greatly, although it has satisfied many of the requirements for GCSE
