Have you guessed it yet? Yes, this method of transport is the common bicycle. This simple, two wheeled machine is the answer to all our problems. If you where to ride to work, school or college there would be numerous benefits for you lifestyle. You would feel more awake in the mornings, you would gradually get and feel a lot healthier, and, most of all you would not be contributing any pollution, the current downfall to this earth. Put like that, this method of transport sounds extremely convincing, but Britons still have an amazing 21 million bikes simply locked away in their garages, sheds simply left to rust.
I think that there could be a way to contract this problem. Just think, how much is your local government doing to promote the use of bikes? How many safe cycle routes are there in you area? And also would you even consider riding to work, school or college if you thought seriously about the dangers on our roads?
I personally think that the government should do more to promote the use of bikes, and much more. They should provide safe cycle routes away from the main roads, provide adequate cycle training, especially for young children, and most of all, provide adding tax reductions for those using a bicycle as a main method of transport.
But, you may ask this will cost a lot of money, and ma not be worth it for government strapped for cash. However I reassure you that this will not be the case. There will be many long term paybacks form increasing the use of bikes as a main method of transport. There will be less pollution in the area, so less people will be in our hospitals suffering from lung disorders such as asmath. And also our roads will need less maintaining if used primarily by bikes, or if there are safe cycle routes off the main roads.
I urge to consider the points raised in this article, and if you agree with them, DO something about it.
There are a number of things you could do. For instance write a letter to you local or national government persuading them that bikes are a useful method of transport and will be a great help to our economy if better cycle routes are introduced. If enough people were to do this then something would have to be done. However, probably the most helpful and useful thing you could do most of all would be to ride you own bike!
