Abortion is a murder by a selfish choice, irresponsibility of mothers and fathers and to destroy one’s ability to love. Those who choose abortion are making a selfish choice. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her own problems. And, by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. Mother Teresa is the founder and mother superior of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, which provides services to needy people around the world. Her viewpoint is excerpted from a speech she gave at a National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on February 3, 1994. Mother Teresa said: “Those who choose abortion are making a selfish choice. Abortion destroys one's ability to love” she contended, “Because people who choose abortion do so to avoid the hurt that unselfish love of their children would require”.
The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not
to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even His life to love us. So, the mother who is thinking of abortion should be helped to love, that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts.
Abortion is immoral, John Paul II, the pope of the Roman Catholic Church, contended that “Abortion is a particularly heinous crime because it kills an innocent human being who has yet to be born. Human life begins the moment an ovum is fertilized, he maintains, and every human being has a sacred and inviolable right to life”. And according to the newest statistic reported in latest Fort Worth Sunday Magazine, abortion kills 1.5 million innocent human beings in America every year. There is no longer any serious scientific dispute that the unborn child is a human creature who dies violently in the act of abortion
In conclusion, a woman faced with an unplanned pregnancy need not place the child for adoption; however keeping the baby is often a very real alternative. Nearly all abortions are performed for so-called social reasons: the mother is poor, immature, unmarried, or afraid that a baby might change her
life for the worse. By one estimate, reasons such as these account for nearly nineteen out of twenty abortions. To be sure, these are real concerns that certainly do affect a woman's ability to raise a child. Nevertheless, asks one commentator, "under what other circumstances would we accept the idea that one person has the right to kill another person to solve his or her social problems?" Moreover, many of these problems are reparable. Adoption is always mentioned, is a realistic goal for those who truly cannot manage to care for a child. There is always another way to save a life than to kill innocent child. Yes, Abortion leads directly to a disregard for human life and to the establishment of a culture of violence, breaking peace of society. Abortion increases a women’s risk of breast cancer harmful to teenagers. Also abortion is a murder by a selfish choice, irresponsibility of mothers and fathers. Nevertheless abortion is immoral. Abortion rights harm society therefore abortion should be illegal.
