(In other words give four reasons for and four reasons against living together.) 16 The definition of cohabitation here means people of the opposite sex living together or sleeping together on a very regular basis sharing sex and sharing in many ways the expenses of life. I think that marriage is better than cohabitation because that about 40% of couples who live together before they marry break-up and of the remaining 60% that do marry over 40% of them divorce after 10 years of marriage, and also I think marriage is better because people in cohabitation might want to look for a snug relationship but not have anything serious, this is normally called the Linus Blanket relationship. ...read more.

She wants to get married he says that they should wait until their child is a little older. Another reason why I think cohabitation is not a good idea is that if you cohabit with a partner then you are not legally joined and you could not go out and say "Hi, this is my Wife!" you would have to say "Hi This is my partner" and that does not have the same ring. It will also build your trust up because a divorce can be a sticky process and can cost a lot. Also there may be a child involved because you didn't use proper protection and the child may be called names because 'Safe Sex' doesn't actually mean that it really means 'Reduced Risk Sex'. ...read more.

Conclusion

20 years ago cohabitation would be frowned upon as a sin even though it happened. Society nowadays accepts cohabitation because younger people are not committed to relationships. Other people's views are as long as you're happy you will find love. Religion nowadays isn't being taken seriously because of younger people's lack of interest in the church. I know somebody who was happily married, since got divorced and now would rather cohabitate than re-marry.
