Explain what Christians believe about the death of Jesus and life after death? Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah; he came to save everyone from sin. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life", meaning that Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice to free human kind from their sins, after Jesus there was no need to sacrifice anything. Jesus died a miserable and painful death, he was: whipped, beaten, humiliated and crucified. He was sentenced for blasphemy in the Jewish court and then he was taken to Pilate, the roman governor, to be crucified. Pilate tried to free Jesus, because he thought that he was innocent, by letting the people choose one prisoner to be saved, so the high priests stirred up the crowd against Jesus and Pilate had to crucify Jesus. ...read more.

The people in the crowd mocked Jesus for being the king of the Jews, "31. So also the chief priests mocked him to one another with the scribes, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." In the last few hours of being on the cross "there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "E'lo-i, E'lo-i, la'ma sabach-tha'ni?" which means, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Christians also believe that there is life after death; on many occasions Jesus said that there will be life after death,. Life after death is fundamental in the Christian belief. All Christian believe that there is life after death, but it all depends there you go to spend your life after death on the way u live your life on earth. Christians believe that there is a heaven and a hell because it says in The Bible that "God came down from heaven with 12 legions of angels to fight the devil and his demons".
