Two of the largest issues of conflict in today’s world are those of war and discrimination. Throughout history these issues have caused conflict between nations, and in this essay I plan to discuss one element of each of these issues.

One of the main types of discrimination today is that of racism. The Bible tells us a lot about this topic. The first is in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make human beings in our image and likeness.” All of humanity owes its origin to God’s creative act, and therefore any attempt to consider any group of people as below us is a form of blasphemy. Acts 17:26 tells us “God began by making one person, and from him came all the different people who live everywhere in the world.” This verse tells us that we all share one origin. Revelation 5:9 tells us that Jesus “Brought people from every tribe, language people and nation to worship God.” This means that race does not matter when it comes to accepting Jesus as saviour; anyone can do it! God’s love embraces people of all cultures. Christians believe that everyone should be reconciled to each other and we should forgive one another for whatever may have happened in the past. The idea of racism is completely unjust.

If the Koreans and Americans had forgiven each other then lives would have been spared. The Bible tells us to “forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” Matthew 18:35. Many wars ...
