Dadsam wasn’t greedy he didn’t want to invade Nrai. In fact he wanted nothing to do with them. His new friends Maj Gen Gwushby and Prime Minister Noty Larib were both on the Council of United Kingdoms, they would be powerful allies indeed.
The new weapons worked. As soon as the Nrai learnt of the Arms deal they proceeded to come to an amicable peace with the Qrai. A peace that was 10 years overdue.
10 years passed…..
The peace in this troubled area of the planet could last only so long.
Dadsam received reports that the large deposits of oil were being stolen from his country by his Neighbour. This time it wasn’t the horrible people of Nrai, but the small principality of Wakuit. They were drilling holes through the planets crust and extracting all the fuel for themselves. He was left with no descion to take. As his countries only source of wealth was being stolen by a smaller neighbour, it was time to try out these new weapons. They had been in storage long enough. The war, if you can call it that was over in a week.
What Dadsam didn’t know was that the Wakuits too had done a deal. A deal with the very same Maj Gen Gwushby and Noty Larib. The Wakuits had promised their new friends as many fuel cells as they wanted. If only they could help the poor defenceless Wakuits from this evil oppressor that had invaded their peaceful country without provocation, and with weapons of such destruction.
Unknown to the Wakuits, Qrai and even the Nrai for that matter, was that although Noty and Gwushby were leaders their primary source of power and wealth came from the Arms Industry.
War was good business.
They had just developed even more destructive weapons than they had sold to Dadsam 10 years earlier. This for them was a shop window into which they could display their wares for the rest of the world to look at in awe, and no doubt get a few advance orders in, in the process.
First though, they had to convince the Council of United Kingdoms that they could get involved in war. The bureaucrats were at this stage running the planet. At least they liked to thinks so. Fortunately enough for Gwushby and Larib, being the makers of the biggest guns, buys you many friends.
At the Councils meeting Gwushby and Larib told the rest of the council of the terrible weapons owned by Dadsam.
If they didn’t invade.
‘ …well it could be you next. After all, the Qrai have already used these terrible weapons on the poor defenceless Wakuits. Who will be next?’
The council was unanimous in its fear of these terrible weapons. How could they defend themselves against the horrible Qrai and their evil leader Dadsam Nushies. At the end of the meeting the council members were urging Gwushby and Larib to send in there forces and dispose of this terrorist and his weapons of mass destruction. They just wanted to be sure on one thing. How did Gwushby and Larib know that Dadsam had these terrible weapons? Surely a country like this have not developed such weapons?
That was one thing they were sure of. They knew exactly which weapons Dadsam had.
The Council of United Kingdoms informed Dadsam they had voted in favour of military action against Dadsam and his country. Dadsam was shocked but not foolish. He knew why his friends were invading him, he knew they had better weapons, he knew the Wakuits had betrayed him all for the oil.
Dadsam called his Military leaders together when he heard of the deception being done to his country.
‘Shall we use our new weapon?’. Asked his General.
‘I wish I had never, ever, thought of buying it’
