What does Islamic relief do?
Islamic relief works in emergencies (Things like earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes). IR also supplies aid for orphans, as well as encouraging development and Waqf. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to establish Waqf himself, and he regarded Waqf as one of the best forms of charity.
IR provides the needs of the people that rely on others for help.
How does Islamic relief raise money?
As well as organizing concerts fairs and shows to raise money - IR sale books, CD’s, clothes and food from all over the world. IR also organize campaigns to raise funds and gain donations. This is mostly done during the month of Ramadan because it is mainly about zakah.
What is Islamic relief currently working on?
When the tsunami 26/12/04 affected five out the nine regions killing more then 35,000 people and left half a million others homeless in Sri Lanka, Islamic relief rapidly distributed food and assisted people affected by natural disasters. IR are still working in the affected provinces and are supporting as much people as possible by giving them things like food, shelter, clothes and education. IR is restoring homes, providing clean water supplies, supporting orphans and widows and helping the poor re-establish their livelihoods.
To help raise money, IR organized a concert with plenty of nasheed artists and comedians present. This concert owned over six million pounds, which went to orphans for the orphan project IR is working on called ‘Inspiration’.
