“It is not possible to be a disciple in the way Jesus intended”

Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer, showing that you have considered more than one point of view.

        To answer this question we need to think about who and what a disciple is. Is it necessary for a disciple to be a ‘complete saint’? No, not even the first twelve were, they all had their failings, and for example Peter denied he knew Jesus and Judas betrayed him. Therefore what is or should be paramount in our lives is trying to never give up hope in God despite all the distractions and temptations of modern life. So to be a disciple today we must be strong in faith, committed to our lives as Christians, be willing to sacrifice, be selfness and be willing to include God in every aspect of our life.

        Despite us living in a modern world, it is much changed world from Jesus’ time I believe it is still possible for us to be disciples in the way Jesus intended. As we are all baptised Christians we all share the call to live out our discipleship. Our world today has many people who need help and only those in the world who are good enough (Christians) will give it to them.
