At rest my body needed energy for muscles, this kept my muscles moving and my body temperature constant. When I exercised my muscles needed a lot of energy therefore I burnt more food in my muscles, I needed oxygen to burn the food. My lungs therefore had to take in more oxygen so I breathed in heavier. My heart rate increased because extra oxygen had to be taken to the muscles after exercise my muscles returned to pre-exercise state. The trend of my results suggests as you increase the amount of exercise then heart rate will also increase and if you decrease the amount of exercise then heart rate will also decrease . Conclusion

A bad point about my procedure is there are lots of safety risks I had to think about such as obstructions on the floor, secondly a bad point about was also that I had to count my own pulse rate, this was unreliable and I may have miss a count or lost count. If I were to repeat the investigation I would use a pulse rate monitor because it is more reliable as it counts your pulse rate for you. Secondly if I were to repeat the investigation I would use a shorter period of time because ten minutes was a long time and I felt exhausted afterwards. Further investigations I could do if I was to test the heart rate could be an activity circuit with a range of different exercise, which would have the same period of time.
