What is the effect of sugar solution on potato chips?

PREDICTION: My prediction is that the more concentrated the sugar is the smaller and lighter the potato chips will get.

THE SCIENCE IDERS THAT SUPPORT THIS ARE: Each cell is surrounded by a cell membrane.  It separates the contents of the cell from the outside.  The cell membrane has tiny holes in it this allows small molecules to pass through but not large ones.  The cell membrane partially permeable.

Water molecules diffuse from high water concentration to a lower water concentration.

FAIR TEST: I will not change these things the size of the potato chips, the number used, the time, temperature and the molar concentration.

I will only change the amount off the sugar solution and the volume.

To see if there has been a difference I will measure the size of the potato chips after a period of four days.

METHOD: The apparatus that I will need are a bench mat to rest my equipment on, a potato, five test tubes and a test tube holder to hold the sugar solution and potato chips, a knife to cut the potato chips to the right size (50cm by 5cm), a ruler to measure to the right size, some sugar solution and some water.

THE STEPS IN MY METHOD ARE:

1. Peel the potato chip and cut to the correct size use a ruler to measure this (50cm by 5cm).

2. Weight the potato chips to see if they are all about the same weight.

3. Get the right amount of sugar solution and water that you will need.

4. Put the potato chips in the test tubes
