Company organisation
At the company there was a manager of the whole campus, then there was a sales manager and then an after-sales manager. The ordinary salesman all each gets their own company Mercedes however the mechanics don’t get anything. The sales manager basically just deals with their best customers and charts the other salesmen’s progress. The main manager was mostly away on meetings or talking individually to each member of staff. The company is well organised and is very laid back.
In The Community
The company being as big as it is makes it very hard to help the immediate community however it does run fun days for kids with disabilities in the local community. It has strong links with the local companies in the area being a company of such calibre most business’s in Bristol use their fleet scheme (buying cars in bulk). There are 42 companies that use the scheme in all in Bristol.
Day1
When I first arrived there I was told to put my lunch in the fridge then to go into the staff meeting. I was introduced to everyone and felt very embarrassed. The sales manager wasn’t there so the deputy told me what to do, he told me to sort out the catalogues in make order an each class of make. At this point I was thinking what have I let myself in for but afterwards I was asked to go with robin a salesman to the D.V.L.A to register 5 cars before sale. That was really interesting because they let me go behind the counter to the old warehouse where they kept all the old cards on which they used to record them on. And that was my first day.
Day2
Today was my best day of the whole week today I went up to Manchester to deliver a car with cruikshanks own delivery driver nicknamed ‘big gay al’
. We had to deliver a brand new Mercedes SLK, which wasn’t released until the weekend after. And drove back in a CLK. On the way up there we had test drive plates on so we could go as fast as we could, and clocked 122 MPH. On arrival ‘al’ had to register the car however I was left to roam the Benz-Benz of Manchester’s premises. I was showed the workshop the kit cars and the new mclaren Mercedes SLK which was just going of for filming on top gear. On the way back we had to stop at the British headquarters to put in some orders and I met the boss of all British operations. That was day 2.
Day3
Today was a comparatively boring one compared to yesterday. For most of the day I was sorting out forms of application for new cars in date order then model order then for about one hour after I was talking to Stuart. I had to leave early because I was performing in arts evening. That was day 3
Day4
Today pushed day2 to the boundary for best day but I was in a car for less time. Today I was at the filming of the American advert for the new SLK it was being filmed at filton airport and Stuart was the man inside being filmed because he was a racing driver. Before filming got under way he gave me a spin in it and it was absolutely amazing. On the straight we reached 175 MPH and the g’s going round corners was amazing. However when they were filming I had to stand in the rain. On coming back we nearly had a crash but luckily I survived. That was day4.
Day5
Today I was back with ‘al’ and we had to go to the shops. Firstly we went to the paper shop to pick up the papers, secondly we went to the florist because it was robins last week of work and then we had to get booze from Makro for the party. When I came back I then went to cribs causeway with Johan to look at the complex up there. They only deal with second hand cars and their garage is a lot smaller than our one. On the way back we went via Henbury. And that was day5.
Conclusion
Overall I enjoyed myself more than I thought I was going to. However getting to know the salesmen I didn’t fancy doing their job. I only really got on with one salesmen (Stuart) and ‘Big Gay Al’ and a lot of them couldn’t be bothered to do stuff out there way to accommodate me. In conclusion I enjoyed myself however I would not like to be a salesmen.
