It is often said that "The beautiful about learning is that no one can take it away from you".  This shows how important knowledge is. A good educational system can make people accept knowledge effectively. A new concept of schooling is stretching across America. All year school keeps students in school throughout the entire year. All year school may seem like it would increase the students learning abilities and their test scores, but it is not exactly what it seems. All year school could prove to be detrimental to students and taxpayers because there will be more school maintenance costs if schools are opened for longer, student may miss out on opportunities to join outdoor activities or take a long-distant trip in summer holidays, and student will have less time to learn from life experiences.

Firstly, all-year school may increase taxpayers costs by paying teachers higher wages and extra maintenance costs during July and August. For instance, in Tempe, AZ, a high school experienced an increase of $157,000 per year in operating costs. Similar increases have been reported by other Arizona schools using an All-Year calender. Most of these costs are spent on air conditioning and staff wages.Teachers and staffs must be paid for all the weeks they are working. Besides,as we all have known, July and August are the hottest two months in a year, therefore, air conditioning needs more electricity than usual to run. School have to hire extra supply teachers to replace the unusual high numbers of teachers who leave school for a break. School also have call home to track the students who do not attend to school because of their stress. For example, In San Diego, 27 elementary schools on Year-Round School lost $1.4 million caused by an increase in average daily absenteeism between July and September. This absenteeism occurred during the traditional calendar summer vacation. All these things may cost the shortage of money, and this leads to another problem, the shortage of budget issue may not allow for extended school programs. This may affect the education quality. With all these factors, taxpayers have to pay more taxes to ensure the education system can work effectively.

According to the recent survey, above 30% students said they have to cut their sporting and family activities in half because of the all-year schedule. There are some students who have ...
