In this lab the voltage between two ionic zinc solutions, which have two different concentrations, were to be investigated on the voltage created between the electrochemical cell created. How will the change in concentration influence the voltage?

Hypothesis: I believe that as one of the solutions becomes diluted (form 1M), the voltage will increase due to the loss in charged particles in one of the solutions.

Independent variables: the concentration of the Zn solution

Dependent variables: the voltage

Controlled variables: the voltmeter, the u-tube

Materials:

  1. Zn Rod
  2. Zinc solution (ZnSO4)
  3. Beaker
  4. U-tube
  5. Pipette
  6. Distilled H2O to dilute the Zinc solution
  7. Tube clamp

Procedure

To obtain the voltage in-between the two solutions these are the steps that need to be done. These values can then be used to come to a conclusion.

Steps:

  1. Since the Zinc solution has a concentration of 1M different concentrations must be created. This is done by mixing H2O with ...
