“We shed as we pick up, like travellers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those behind. The procession is very long and life is very short. We die on the march.” This quote is by Septimus page 38. It tells us a lot about Septimus. I think the writer shows us that Septimus thinks life is not very good. “The procession is very long” I think this quote shows us that Septimus thinks life is very hard without a lot of fun and pleasure and that more living is done working in a procession of people watching. I think this shows us that Septimus is not very happy with his life and would like to change it. We know that Septimus is a witty character and is always trying to do naughty things without getting caught. This shows us he would like to live his life having fun and amusement rather than working all the time.
