Discrimination occurs when a person is treated less favorably than another in a comparable situation because of their racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. This incident took place in Maycomb Alabama in the 1930s.In history America especially the southern states of America  were very prejudice against African Americans. Bob Ewell and many of the town people discriminate Tom Robinson. Tom Robison is accused guilty in chapter 21.

On page 174 Tom Robinson is asked why he helped Mayella Ewell and he said “he felt sorry for her” and Bob Ewell reacted by saying “why should you feel sorry for a white girl if anything we should feel bad about you negro folks”(lee 174)This is said in the courtroom at the trial in part 2 of the novel “to kill a mocking bird”
