12:00 precisely. Jenny left the doctors surgery where she worked, and made her way to the town. Here she met her husband waiting outside the café. It was their anniversary – a special day. Jenny pushed the thoughts of the terrorist attack out of her mind and looked forward to a good meal, shopping and a day out with her beloved husband.
Rhian stopped abruptly from her studying. She was meant to meet her friend, in town, five minutes ago. She locked the door and ran to the bus stop – just in time. Rhian arrived in town fifteen minutes late apologising to her friend. She was going to have a fun afternoon, no studying, just shopping and spending time with her friend.
A table at the café was booked for 1:30, enough time for Jenny to buy her husband an anniversary present. Together they went shopping buying each other small gifts like flowers and chocolate to signify their love. They looked in shop after shop until the town clock struck 1:15. They quickly bought the last gifts and, hand in hand, they set off towards the café.
Rhian and her friend left the bus stop and went to visit an elderly lady. This was one of the good deeds the two friends did to help out other people. Together they bought groceries and a small present for the pensioner. Because of their kindness they were rewarded with a few pounds to treat themselves. Rhian and her friend decided to eat lunch out in reward for their good work.
The couple arrived back at the café just as the clock struck again for 1:30. They entered the café feeling relaxed after the hour spent shopping. As they ordered their lunch of beef and ale pie, they discussed what they would do in the afternoon. It was decided they would go and visit Jenny’s ill mother. They were thanking each other for the gifts as the two pies arrived.
The two friends leisurely ambled up the road towards the café. As they went they talked about the elderly lady they looked after. The conversation then changed to the evening ahead as they were going clubbing together. They walked through the door and into the brightly lit café. Rhian quietly closed the door as they chose a table near to a couple. Out of the corner of her eye, Rhian saw a car pull up outside the café.
Boom! As the dust cleared a few rose petals and a handful of coins could be seen. In the distance a radio could be heard. ‘Another terrorist attack outside a café in the small town of Eden. For people dead and another twelve injured.
