BPO builds computer networking and telecommunication in order to electronically link of the geographically dispersed devices. By telecommunication network, it can easily transmute the students’ data using the network and the underlying data. This network is viewed as interface that makes manager or any other network users to send a communication easily and efficiently. The employers can easily access the student’s resume, match this resume with the company requirement and set up the interview schedules. The BPO computer system also involves editorial function in which the students can change the wrong data before they submit their resumes via internet. Any errors can be corrected via the BPO Web site.
The BPO network system connects the network structure in the Midstate University and the employer network structure. So, each employee has access to every student, and every system, with which he or she might conceivably need to interact. This connectivity is very important especially in the second bidding period, when students may cancel a scheduled interview if necessary. With this connectivity, BPO has opportunity to build customer relationship management with the school and the recruiters.
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and electronic commerce are critical areas in which the BPO has built hardware and software technology. EDI permits student data and resume to be transferred electronically between computers in the different separate organization. The most explosive electronic commerce area involves commerce over the World Wide Web. In this advantage, students can get information about campus presentation and company brochures.
In short term, the BPO computer system gives many advantage, it provides outstanding services to all of its clients, both the students and recruiters. Even BPO is the pioneers in this system, it has to continue improve the system because other large universities placement operation are using the computer to their operation.
Does the student have fair competition regarded with using information system in selecting their applications?
In the information era, everything can be faster than before include job seeking. Maybe it is most effective way to process thousand even million applications. If they are processed manually, we can imagine how long the time is needed for process all of the applications and how many workers are requested to do this job. By using the information system, the students just only clicking the application form from BPO can enter various data from themselves and put it in the system. The students can enter various data such as the students GPA, the students’ residents, and so on.
In the other hand, the recruiters will have an easier job to do when they are seeking employee for their companies. The recruiters only have to click the system and enter the data they needed in the form. The recruiters can enter what they need such as what GPA they are needed, where the students from, how much the students want their salaries, what position the students want and so on. With this kind of information system it will make sure that both the recruiters and the students have benefit from it. Its will surely easier the task of the recruiters. But the problem is how about the students that actually have potentiality but the information system cannot provide or showed their potentiality for the jobs? For example, if the students cannot fulfill certain qualification like the recruiter need an employee from Seattle but the potential students lived in Manhattan so the system will eliminated the potential students from Manhattan. It seems that it’s unfair for the students because actually they are very potential and willing to be placed anywhere but the system cannot recognize that. But it is a dilemma because the recruiters cannot interview the entire applicant, it will costly them too much and wasting the time.
Actually, in our opinion this information system is very good to be used by the recruiters. For the unfair competition it could be solved by the students with inputting their full data to the systems through the admin, so the recruiter could access the student full data and resources. With this, the admin could minimize the problem of the students.
The system has not provided a real time data application due to security in their database
Although this system is operate in the web, but for data application, this system still need batch transaction to process the data. The consideration to choose batch transaction is achieving security in their system. They worry with the hacker who can make change in the application data in order to make a false and manipulate the data which can make trouble in the interviewing process. Implication of using batch transaction is the application data is not based on real time. May be it reduce the system performance because it need more effort to update the data. The system collects the student input and accumulates it in batch transaction in the night. For the company side if they enter to the system through web, they can not have the real time information about the applicant. Compared with the same system which used in the same field such as jobsdb.com, this system allows the applicant to submit their application form in the real time basis through their web.
BPO suppose not worry too much about the hacker because their system has a good protection by separate their server in three servers: the Web server, the application server and the database server. And in every server they are provided by firewall to ensure security of the data. Considered to the importance of data, compared with difficulty of entering the database maybe it will make someone think twice to enter the database without any authority.
Conclusion
A communication revolution affects the job of every manager. The internal change in organization is that communications become rapid, reliable voice and data communication with other parts of the company and with suppliers and customers.
The BPO network system connects the network structure in the Midstate University and the employer network structure. Enabling access for employee to every student, and every system, with which he or she might conceivably need to interact.
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) permits student data and resume to be transferred electronically between computers in the different separate organization. Making a job seeking process become easier for both of the companies and the applicant enabling the recruiter to selecting the list of what they need accordance to the GPA, salaries, positions and preferences, but the other problem may emerge when the potential students were cannot be reviewed by the recruiter because of the data form were not based on geographical area.
The consideration to choose batch transaction is a system security matter. But it might reduce the system performance because the system collects the student input and accumulates it in batch transaction and process it in the night.
Recommendation:
- The BPO may use a throughout definition about the company’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Provide a complete, prioritized listing of systems which giving a complete forms of applicant data
- Use an on-line transaction process and not too worry about the security system since the losses are not very significant to the great material losses, use the multiple firewalls and the other dependable security systems
