Team working has also seemed to be a consistent weakness of mine, in most cases I find or have found it a lot easier to work alone rather than part of a group. I think the reason for this is because, if group work is given then each member of the group should give equal input. In past experiences I have been in group where each member is not giving equal input which is not fair on the rest of the group who are. In situations like that it can create division amongst the group, which then leads to even less of the group work being completed accurately as there is no unity between the group. Also from my findings with group work is that there can be instances where a particular member begins to spearhead the group, this can be both negative and positive. It can be positive as the person spearheading the group may be seen as the more popular member, and so it may seem natural to go along with what they say. At the same time it can be negative because one person spearheading the group may not create a good reaction with another member, as that particular member might see it best that everybody equally spearheads the group in doing its task.
Career Development Plan
I found many jobs whilst completing The Prospects Planner, I have chosen three of the jobs to analyse its threats and opportunities. The first job is Personnel Officer, this job entails informing the organisation on policies relating to any human resources within that organisation. An example of the role of a Personnel Officer is to inform employees of working practices, pay, equal opportunity to name but a few.
The Personnel Officer is at an advantage of making sure every person is equally informed of the implementations, the officer has to relay the information but do so in a way that those on the receiving end will take in, consider and even action the implementations where appropriate. Making sure every person is equally informed in my opinion is an advantage as the officer is charged would be confident within themselves that, they can deliver the information rather than delegate for a lesser colleague to inform employees of the implementations.
The disadvantage of being a Personnel Officer is that, if the implementations are broken then the employees could simply say that the rules were not told by The Personnel Officer. If this were to happen then The Personnel Officer would not have a job, so a Personnel Officer has to be the type of person who is able to relay messages accurately and in a way that it would be received by his/ her audience.
The second job that matched the criteria I entered on the Prospects Planner was, a recruitment consultant. In my opinion this job has a really good advantage, this is because if you are the person doing the recruiting you have some idea of the person/s you need to do the required job. As you have an idea of what you need and you are doing the recruiting, the two go hand in hand. The person in this position of doing the recruiting is at an advantage of recruiting who they need and not leaving it up to someone who is not completely sure what the company is looking for or who may be biased in ways. The negative aspects of being a recruitment consultant are that the consultant is at the forefront of the whole recruitment process for that particular company. The major part of recruitment is the advertising which is expensive, and the consultant can be held responsible for using too much of the company budget if those hired were to quickly leave the company.
The last job that matched my criteria was that of a training development officer/ manager, which I thought was interesting. I felt this job was a good one firstly because the officer is in charge of a group and that alone shows that you are a natural leader. The other interesting factor of being a training development officer is that although you are the manger, you have know got to develop your team and help them realise their potential. Being able to help another person develop and reach their full potential is a good skill but one that may not be as easy as it seems.
Overall if I had to choose one of the three jobs above, I would like to say that the job of Training Officer would be the job for me. Id like to say this would be the right job for me as it is the type of job that requires a lot of thought, but has a high achievement level.
