Developement is a process of improving an individual’s skills, knowledge and interests in order to ensure the maximum effectiveness and adaptability (Marchington & Wilkinson, 2005). In today’s competitive job markets it has become increasingly important to prepare and organise the learning and future plans in a clear way. The flowing essay looks at my personal development throughout my second year and the development plan for the next academic year. In this report, I am going to focusing on what my strengths are and where my weaknesses are, and how the team members and tutors’ feedbacks have helped my development. Moreover, I will outline my career plans and analyse the skills and knowledge the post requires. Then identify the skills and knowledge gaps between what I have and what I will need to gain in the further study. Finally, I will provide a detailed explanation of my plans for the final year.

After reviewing my Level 2 study, I have a clear view of my achievements and challenges. The strengths made aware towards me are that I am good at dealing with people. I enjoy working within team and tend to get along easily with peers. Moreover, I feel that my main achievements are in time management, as I have never missed a deadline and always prioritise my work and tasks that need to be done as well as using and organising my time efficiently.

However, I do have some challenges, which is in oral communication and presentations. I cannot give formal presentations as well as I would get nervous quickly and start losing concentration on what I have to say. I feel that this is due to the fact that I am not confident in standing up in front of people and giving a presentation or speech. I also have a weakness in solving problems and critical thinking, as I cannot always solve a problem without guidance which shows that I prefer to be given step by step guidance which then helps me in solving complex problems. Overall I think I had a lot of challenges over achievements but there can be improvements made in certain areas to reach my overall full potential in my further study.

During my Level 2 at university, I worked with 3 partners as a team to prepare a presentation and report then got feedback from each partner. This can be seen as Peer Evaluation where the students who work with me provide an evaluation of my performance. The benefit of this form of feedback is that it produces a more balanced view because the monitors are the students who work with me. This feedback also provides a more viable basis for reviewing my performance depend on my effectiveness as a team member (Gilmore & Williams 2009). The common points of the feedback from my team members are that I am lack of leadership skills and do not share idea frequently within the team. As what I mentioned above, my weakness is I would get nervous quickly. Therefore, when I work with my partner I always lose concentration on what I have to say. Moreover, when I face problem, I usually follow the guidance which cause I am lack of leadership ability. However, I did receive some positive feedback from my partners, such as listening and respecting attributes. I think to be a partner, not only I should contribute my own opinion, but also listening to others opinion is necessary because team working requires everybody’s contribution and efforts.

Our team also received a feedback from tutors. The process of this kind of appraisal can be seen as ‘top-down’ process which involves tutors providing feedback to our team about our whole performance (Gilmore & Williams 2009). The main problems of our team working showed by tutors are we were lack of research. For the presentation, we did not provide enough detailed information and there is no focus or key points within the presentation. These made listeners to be confused with our proposition. Moreover, we ran over our time slightly which means we were not good at time management, ...
