ARISTOTLE: ON A GOOD WIFE FROM OIKONOMIKOS

Marriage is the most important phenomenon in a person’s life. You choose a mate for this endless establishment, you love him or her and marry him or her. In a marriage, both sides must be invovled into all desicions because the life you are living is common life. Your earnings belongs both of you and also all immovables are belong both of you. In patriarchial nations, there is a belief that women are sticked to men for their economic life and they believe that women need men to survive. This belief comes from Ancient Greek, the birth place of democracy, because the democracy valid only that time’s conditions. The greatest philosophers also thought like that and they talked about women just like a slave.

Nowadays, a great amount of women are working in companies and some companies choose their presidents between women, because they have more good relationships with people that male presidents. Aristotle, one of the great philosophers in Ancient Greek, tells that “ A good wife should be the mistress of her home, having under her care all that is within it, according to the rules we have laid down” (Aristotle, p.1).
