Dictatorships of left and right used the mass media for propaganda in broadly similar ways. Discuss.

To go about this question one is firstly going to explain what the term propaganda actually means. Once this is done one will then, using Dictatorships from the Right and Left, which will be Lenin/Stalin on the Russian side and Hitler on the German side, show how both of these countries used the mass media for propaganda. One will use a range of topics to show this, for example, Cult of personality, Education, Film and cinema Once this ground work is completed one will be able to answer weather or not these two dictatorships used propaganda in broadly similar ways.

Propaganda is the use of information to emphasise a particular message. This information can differ from posters to film and books to Radio etc. What propaganda achieves is, influencing the opinions or behaviour of the general public of the country using propaganda. It would do this by only giving out bias documents, giving certain facts but omitting others etc, portraying somebody differently with posters or television.
