However conscience is not what emotion we feel at that time is not always the right answer as that might not be part of Gods plan for us. After all what we pray for is not always what we get as God knows it is not in our plan. So we must not do things because we believe that it is right but that we believe that God believes it is right. The only way to really hear God is to listen to our conscience.
Conscience is not unchanging and as we mature as humans and educate our conscience we can get closer to God and really hear Gods decision.
Our conscience is always correct so must always be followed as it is a guide from God. It is not God accusing us but just helping us to make the right choice.
Question 2- Is thinking of your conscience as a triangle in your heart a good way?
Statement: If you do right, the triangle stays still and you feel at peace. If you do wrong the triangle turns a little, and you feel a painful jolt. If you continue to do wrong the triangle keeps turning, but after a while its points wear down and become smooth, and you don’t feel a jolt anymore.
Answer: It is very true that if you do right and obey your conscience you will feel at peace and calm. It is also true that if you do wrong your conscience can make you feel bad and often people say having a ‘guilty conscience’ which is the same thing. Then if you continue to ignore your conscience for too long a time you will no longer think about your conscience and you won’t no what right and wrong is. You won’t ever feel bad about anything, and you will loose your friendship with God.
Therefore the triangle is a good way of thinking of our conscience as all the things it stands for are true. The only part that I don’t agree with is that you feel a painful jolt if you do something wrong and it doesn’t seem to be a metaphor for anything but nevertheless makes sense.
