* Style, structure and presentation
* The relevance of the adaptation
* How the film appeals to an audience
* The technical features used
The play 'Romeo and Juliet' has been conveyed to many different audiences in time. Zefirelli, an Italian film maker, was one of the most significant directors to translate this play from paper to film, he made a version of the play in 1968. Another significant adaptation of this play was by An Australian film maker in 1997 named Baz Luhrmann. Zefirelli perceived a true medieval, authentic perception of the play where as Luhrman chose to use a modern day adaptation, aiming his film at a younger generation. Zefirelli presented his version pf the play in a very naturalistic form with a hint of a fairy tale element; on the other hand, Luhrmann's interpretation of the play is very slick and professional, instantly shocking the audience by the aid of lighting, sound effects and stylized imagery. Although the plays are adapted in different ways there are similarities between the plays as the scripts are both the same and characters are presented in the same way.
