Lord Of the Rings Media Review I don't take sides in this as I have not yet formed a final opinion (I think we all need to see both versions of the final film before we have the right to do that).Here is what I think so far: The Fellowship of the Ring was a magnificent piece of work. Most aspects of the book were captured including the critical atmosphere, which the film would be nothing without. There are things missing but they are no great concern to me.The Two Towers is easily attacked as it features the first battle of the films (other than Dagorlads 5 minute clip). This makes it seem like it is trying to attract the box office types. The battle of Helms Deep has always seemed to me somewhat hollow compared to The Pelenor fields

and The Black Gates. Its a small but highly overdone battle in the film. If I were to complain of anything it would be that it goes on too long and may seem too dramatized. However many scenes give The Two Towers depth and the "Middle-Earth feeling". These include Theodreds Tomb, Gandalf's return at Helms Deep, the march of the Ents toward Isengard and Osgiliath (I know its a detraction from the book but it beautifully brings in Gondor's war against Mordor and gives the feeling that the War has been going on for a long time to hold Osgiliath. ...
