Democracy: A system of which there is free and equal participation by the people in political decision- making process.

Each nation on the face of the earth today, has a government but not every nation has the same form of government.  In general, there three types of government, which are most favorable by many countries: democratic, monarchial, dictatorship.  Of those three styles of government, the United States of America and Britain fall in to two types of governmental systems.  The United States of America which is democratic and whose political system is presidential and Britain, which is highly traditional monarchial government with a parliamentary political system.

The United Kingdom has a unicodified and partly written constitution which has many conventions, which have not been scripted into the constitution. Meaning that they are not fully constitutional laws.  Which leaves these conventions at risk because they have not entered these new happening into their Constitution. An example of a convention, which is very important to the parliamentary system, is the whole idea of primeministership.  Through out the whole constitution there is no legitimate existence of the Prime Minster.   The legitimate argument is that the British Parliament is not at any time soon, ready to re-evaluate their constitution.  On the other hand, the United States of America is the total opposite. They are a very constitutional country.  The American constitution prevents the problem of over concentrated power, which gives the power to all.  The central government is not one, which is aggressive; it is one that will give services to the people only if the states cannot provide these.  The style they have is a federalist point of view fragments the power through out all stages, and gives it a sense of checks and balances.  On this subject, I would have to think that the Americans have the upper hand because they have a set constitution to be followed and leave no room for uncertainties, unlike the British who have had so many conventions added to the parliamentary system that they should really consider making some of them law.  Another reason for why I feel that the Americans are better off with their constitution is because they have a federalist system, which, clearly designates all powers of each level of government.  The two levels of government cannot make laws within eachothers jurisdiction.  Unlike the United Kingdom, where the national government can make laws pertaining to any matter, which leaves the local government whatever powers it has been delegated to it.

Another significant feature, which makes them different are that, the United Kingdom is a monarchial society, it has many traditional happenings that fall upon the country.  The Head of State is honored by the, who is given the right of birth.  In other words, we don’t have legitimate choice to the head of State; as well the head of government is the one given right to by birth.  Although, the chosen one may be the official head of government, a convention in a parliamentary style government is that the leader of the party with most seats in parliament, is to ...
