How important were the new media of radio and film to the development of nazi propaganda between 1933 and 1939?
Hitler and his Nazi party had come to power with the aim of fundamentally restructuring German politics and society. The Nazi regime had implemented itself swiftly and effectively consolidating political power within only a few months. But this was only the beginning of their consolidation of total power. Hitler was extremely aware of the need for public support from the German people and hence set about gaining this. It was the realisation that Germany as a nation could be made great by the eventual support of the German people (or at least their passive support), that we seen the beginning of a mass propaganda campaign. For the Nazi regime to consolidate their power the German people were needed to be too afraid to rebel against its government but at the same time they were needed to be completely or partially convinced of the regimes values. With this in perspective, the German population was to be "atomised and mobilised through a ubiquitous system of terror and sophisticated propaganda techniques"1. The period 1933 -1939 is vital to
