- Immigration can attract crime elements to Host country and street crime facts are rising
- Immigration may become political/social issue. Cheap labor, exploitation of immigrants
- Impact for social working groups.
Those who were hoping to earn enough money for their live minimums and don’t get that may go to crime. After migration people always cannot get that they desiring it may push them to do crime. Poverty level going high because of numbers of poor people will increase in face of immigrants.
Immigrants are ready to do black job which local people will reject. Also immigrants are not so sophisticated on the salary. Most of them will agree with low payment for their work and will be able to do much more hours them local people ready to do. This kind of reasons may become like exploitation of immigrant as cheap labor. According to HM Revenue and Customs minimum wave in United Kingdom is £5.52 and at the same time as we can see information taken from Mackinac Center for Public Policy most part of immigrants are ready to work just for half of legal salary in host country. However it is not so bid issue than this people is going to send part of their earned money out of the country to their family. It may cause for money going out of the country but it is still not so much money. According to my.telegraph.co.uk About 4 billion British pounds a leaving British economy each year. Is it a drain in British economy? This question may appear in your mind. But it is still not big figure comparing to the whole money in the economy it is not measurable amount of money which British society should concern.
Second point which can be mentioned as an issue For Britain is increasing of street crime, Britain can attract crime elements. A report published by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) definitely confirmed us that there is no evidence asylum seeker and legal immigrant more likely than other people to commit crimes. As Guardian newspaper reports it is not right to think that immigration level may cause for level of crime. It is proportionate with population level. Being asylum seeker or being immigrant is not a reason to commit crimes. Poverty level can be cause for increasing crime level.
And last not least point is impact on social work. As we can see it is a very big issue for Britain. Problems causing because of immigration is problems concerned about housing, health system, and handling all of that. It is all work of government. A key strain has been concerning housing. Successive governments have failed to satisfy fully the demand for housing. The arriving of large numbers of immigrants particularly in inner city areas, with the most acute housing problems, inevitably has exacerbated already serious shortages. This shortage is causing for housing markets problems. Demand for houses increasing and law of economy dictates us that when demand for houses is growing prices for houses immediately will go up too. Health caring system is suffering as well. Because numbers of people who needed health care is growing up with numbers of people coming in. Main problems are lack of hospitals, lack of stuff in hospitals and also lack of medicines. It is an issue for Britain. Because people may face this kind of problems like long time standing in queues just to be checked or even hard to get appropriate treatment for their illnesses. It is not fault of people who came in. It is fault of government. On the other hand it is still an issue to concern about. And reason for that is that development of Britain is high but still it is making problems to handle that. So, only the solution for that is to keep that part of development on the same level with numbers of people coming in.
Now I want to add some more idea in to this topic. There are three broad types of migrant economic, asylum seekers and illegal. As we discussed before economic migrants is not so big issue in Britain. Next part to mention is asylum seeking people. Asylum seeking people to get permission to enter country they need to assure government that reason of their migration is not economic and they just want safety for them and their family. Moreover, number of asylums is not so high nowadays. According to Report of Home Office UK Border Agency asylum seekers number this year is lowest in 14 year period. And the most important issue is illegal immigrant. This part of immigrants is damaging image of all another immigrants at all. Illegal immigrant do not paying any taxes, they may commit crimes. They may work in “black”. They do not have any record of them in this country. They cannot claim free health care. They even may bring disease. There is the point. Asylum and immigrant is not a big issue for Britain. Actual big issue for Britain is illegal immigrants. What is really problem to solve is that. Again according to Guardians report United Kingdom is still hosting about 430,000 illegal immigrants and possibly this figures can go up till 570,000 people. This report was done in 2005 and that figures may increasing this years. “The Home Office said the central estimate for the number of illegal immigrants was 430,000, or 0.7% of the total UK population.” as Guardian posted. This percentage still enough high for United Kingdom. There is a lot of spending on controlling this work. In time of crisis it is unacceptable spending.
Immigration and asylum topic is kind of topic which is always rising during elections. In many European countries the politics surrounding race and immigration has become central to the outcome of national elections. In well developed countries like United Kingdom and United States race and immigration problem was on top. Perhaps the most clearly seen moment about that was when Marie Le Pen won presidential race and his victory was over Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin in France. Also, it was and it is big topic for media. Media is making a lot of stress on it. Media always had criticizing viewpoint. Nowadays role of media on society is very huge. According to this exact situation media blaming asylum and immigration in bad sides many times. All the times people thrust on media too much and media constructs peoples thinking. Because of that people get angry on that much concerned of this question.
In conclusion I want make stress on that all this issues are important and need a lot of work to do. But it is still not so big issue to be worried about. As we all know power of media and freedom of media is growing day by day. As I mentioned before this issue is important for British society. To conclude this topic I want to say that asylum and immigration is not so big issue for Britain to be concerned about. There are plenty of issues which cannot wait. I think that that current United Kingdom immigration policy places the preservation of society before the well being of the economy in this difficult time of economical crisis all over the world. On the other hand United Kingdom still viewed as soft touch and this issue rather than United States. I hope that future well managing of immigration issues, can play an important part in alleviating shortages in specific sectors, both high and low skill. Moreover, Britain needs immigrants too, because birth rate is low as well. Britain needs them just to keep working-age population in stable situation.
