The script
The story of our play is my sixteen year old daughter is pregnant and the parents don’t know, but her mum forces it out of her at dinner when she goes to bed and she doesn’t tell Matthew the dad, and she takes her to the doctors and has a pregnancy test to see if its positive and it is. On the way home the dad is on his last run and he picks up the nurse from the doctors and she starts talking about a girl called Annaliese Allan, which is pregnant and she’s sixteen, and Matthew clicks on and nearly has an accident and then h goes home has a confrontation with his wife and then after a few weeks they split up over a sausage sandwich, they split up because there always arguing.
We used monologues to interact with the audience and show what we was thinking and we used marking the moment to show the key moment of the play this showed the key feature and attracted a lot of attention.

Emalou come on love tidy up, are you ready for your tea because it will be ready soon
Corrine yeah I am, I guess I best move my stuff for when dad comes home
Emalou yeah you best because he will be home soon, emalou tidying the table and getting the food ready
Annaliese get down here dinners ready, no response, Anna gets down here
Annaliese yeah I’ll be down in a sec
Emalou now!!!!
Annaliese yeah alright she comes down the stairs and gets ready for hr dinner
Matthew hello baby kisses his daughters on the head and goes to wife how’s your day been love
Corrine fine dad
Emalou hi honey how’s your day
Matthew fine, is dinner ready
Emalou yeah I will just get it for you ema, goes for the dinner and puts it on the table
Matthew get us a beer love
Corrine get us one mum
Emalou all right then, ema gets beer
Matthew who said you could have one I didn’t
Corrine but dad I’m old enough
Matthew I don’t care this is my house it’s my rules so no
Corrine but dad
Matthew no!!!
Emalou here you go, you best eat it all to day Anna
Annaliese I’m not right hungry mum, Anna runs up stairs and emalou follows Matthew and corrine freezes
Emalou Anna where you going
Anna and Emma having a chat about her and then Emma finds out.
Emalou what’s wrong
Annaliese nothing
Emalou tell me
Annaliese im pregnant
Emalou what! , We got to tell your dad
Annaliese no mum please don’t please
Emalou ok but we are going to the doctors in the morning
Annaliese thanks mum thank you
Ema comes down stairs without Anna
Emalou Anna’s not going to school tomorrow she’s not well
Matthew why what’s wrong with her
Emalou she just isn’t well

(Emalou and annaliese go to the doctors to check it out)

Nurse goes to get Mrs Allen

Emalou come on Anna
Doctor so Mrs Allen what’s the problem
Emalou its my daughter she’s pregnant
Doctor I see so how long have you been pregnant, do you know who the father is?
Annaliese about 2 weeks, of course I do who do you think I am
The doctor writes down information about this
Doctor nurse can you take this young lady and have a pregnancy test to see if she is pregnant and to check if she has caught anything
Nurse yes can you come with me please
Emalou go on Anna
Annaliese ok
Anna and the doctor just mime here while the nurse takes a pregnancy test
With annaliese
Nurse doctor the results are ready, the nurse gives the results to the doctor
Doctor your daughter is pregnant and has been for 4 weeks
Emalou thanks doctor that’s all to hear
Doctor its ok Mrs Allen but are you alright you have any more problems don’t hesitate to contact me
Emalou thanks I wont

Matthew finds out Anna’s pregnant

Nurse so congratulations

Nurse the baby
Matthew yeah my baby, what!!!, Matthew pulls over only just missing some drunk people fully aware and convinced it isn’t his daughter
No its not my baby, Anna wouldn’t do a thing like that she wouldn’t get pregnant, no she wouldn’t do that
Nurse ohh sorry I didn’t know, I thought you knew
Matthew that’s four pound fifty please love, Matthew sounds hurt and upset
Scene 4
Matthew arrives home from work

Matthew alright love have you seen our daughter
Emalou Corrine’s in the living room with annaliese
Matthew just the daughter I wanted to see, did you know she’s pregnant
Emalou yeah I did, in a soft mellow voice
Matthew what why didn’t you tell me, what happened to telling each other every thing
Emalou she told me not to tell you she made me promise
Matthew I’m going to go and see her
Emalou no
Matthew I’m going to see her and that’s that~, in a strict stern voice
Emalou Matthew stop shouting, emalou starts to cry
Matthew in gentle voice, I’m sorry love I didn’t mean it I’m just really angry, Matthew gives emalou a hug and sis next to her, I cant get over it I’m a grandad I’m not even 40 or 50 and I’m a grandad
Emalou that’s how my parents felt
Matthew I finally know what my dad was on about and felt when he was telling me off about it
Emalou but we got to support her~
Matthew unlike my dad
Emalou it will be all right we can get through this but we just got to stick together
Scene 5
Matthew is about to go to work but before that he needs his breakfast

Emalou is making breakfast and Matthew is late for work
Emalou here you go love, emalou hands Matthew his breakfast a sausage sandwich
Matthew thanks love; what’s this I like bacon not sausage what you doing
Emalou we haven’t got any bacon
Matthew well have you heard of a shop
Emalou but its 10 minutes away and you will be late for work
Matthew so I’m late for work now!!
Emalou stop shouting that’s all you ever do since she got pregnant
Matthew well it’s a thing called stress I’m working double shifts and everything
Thanks to her, it’s all her fault if she wouldn’t have got pregnant that little~
Corrine shut up dad I’ve had enough of you always shouting I’m leaving
Matthew hey Corrine you no what if it makes you I’ll go and you know what I am not coming back so bye, Matthew storms out the house and emalou starts to cry
Corrine fine then leave I don’t care
Emalou what have you done
Corrine mum
Emalou leave know I don’t want to see you get out of my face
Evaluation
In drama I have learned that you can portray many fictional situations, which actually happen in real life which helps you think, feel and act as they would in that situation.
I have learned that families break up in many different ways, one person could have an affair, they just might fall out of love and there might be abuse in the family.
The techniques we used were monologue, marking the moment, hot seating and an exercise where we just talked to each in our characters to get to learn their personalities and freeze-framing. We used monologues to show what our characters were thinking and feeling, marking the moment to show the key part of the play, hot seating and our personality exercise helped us get to know our characters and their feelings, we used freeze framing to separate to different scenes to make it clear and easy to understand.
I think we worked well in our groups as we all got along really well and we did our work instead of messing about, we did well on our drama work because we put a lot of time and effort into it and I believe we did well when we performed it. I am going to improve on my body expressions and on my use of techniques as I believe they will help me achieve a higher grade and will improve my skills in drama and my performance.
I believe our performance went very well as it went smoothly we all had good focus, we new what we was doing and the techniques like freeze frames came in at the right time.
