Method Justifications
I chose to do a system to do with a leaflet. The reason why I will design a leaflet for the business is that is will cheap to print, it can be sent to customers homes and can contain pictures and enough information for the customer also people can come in and pick them up. It also be put into public places like the library
ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION
A television commercial can really be affective because it can be sent all over the world, but the down fall is that it is way too expensive for the business, also a commercials are not really something that will suit the business because they will not have a great amount of air time which will not be enough for the business to really sale their products. So a television schedule is out of the question. Kiosk can also cost a bit because you need a computer. Also the customer has to be inside the shop to use the kiosk which is a down fall.
USER REQUIREMENT
In the leaflet the requirements are:
- Good balance of pictures and information.
- Not colourful for the people with bad eye sight.
- The company’s logo on every page.
- The font size being 12 except the Sub Titles and the Title and the company’s name. These will be on size 14.
- Good balance of pictures and information.
- Good Spelling.
- Good Grammar.
- Correct Page number
2-Analysis.
HARDWARE
I will be using a standard PC; this is because it is the resource which is available for me in the school. I will be using an LCD screen this is because an LCD screen can be visualized from most angles, and a better viewing. Also it is good because it does not give out any radiation, which is good for my health. The screen size will be 21 inches because I can see more things on the screen, because I do not have a good eye sight. And a resolution of 1280*800 this means that the screen will very clear. The printer that I will be using will be a laser colour printer. The reason why I chose to use the laser printer rather than the inkjet is that because the laser printer will last longer, and also the laser printing, prints to a higher resolution that the inkjet. Also the laser can print faster than the inkjet. The reason why I chose to print in colour rather than a mono is that the colour is more interesting and is more eye catching. The mono prints are black and white only.
RAM is a permanent memory it can influence the processing power, its speed and the amount programs it can run at the same time. The higher the bytes the more complex the programme can run. Having a higher RAM will help the DTP programme to work faster because DTP is a programme that lets text flow.
SOFTWARE.
I will be using a MS publisher this is because this is the only DTP programme available in school to create a publication. DTP is a very useful; the advantages of using the programme is that it has advantages like text flow which mean that the when information is put into a box and there is too much information text flow will automatically create other boxes for the text to get into, text wrap minimise space to profited if there are pictures in the programme, guidelines to use the system. But really these systems are very easy to use. Templates can also be used to help the creation of the programme to be easier.
The different programmes that I’ll be using to make this peace of advert within a leaflet, is the internet to collect some pictures, paint application for the subtitles, PowerPoint to do the logo.
DATA COLLECTION.
For this bit I’ll be collecting the raw materials needed to finish the leaflet.
- I’ll be using TEXT (times new roman) for the menu, to put down information, prices and data.
- I’ll be using bitmap pictures to have pictures of memorabilia’s for the tourist or the other people who will be visiting the shop. Pictures of flags, Buckingham Palace etc. This will remind them of this country. From the internet
- I’ll be using word art for titles and subtitles also the heading; this will be attractive and eye catching. It can
- I will be using vector images for the logo, because vector images can maximised without the image really loosing it’s quality.
The company who I’m doing this advert for are not really trying to attract Londoners, but are really after the tourist. So I’ll be collecting as much information as I could to help them So what I’ll be doing is that get research from books, the internet, and collect pictures from magazines. I’ll be taking pictures of the items they sell to input the leaflet. Using the internet to input pictures straight into the hardware. I’ll be using a keyboard to input information as text and also numbers (prices, date etc...) I’ll also be using vector images to make my own logo not a one that has already being made. Using clipart I’ll be able to make the original logo that will suit the business.
Input output processing.
ALTERNATIVE OUTPUT.
I’ve already thought about my alternative output and already have printed out a as a leaflet. Because I’m using publisher it has an option to export as hmtl. So another process can be used (internet). A DTP publisher can be used to also make posters.
This is my test plan to show that I have met my manager’s demands.
Hardware.
I will be using a standard PC this is because it is the only available system I have to use. And the school provided me with the mouse and a keyboard also.
I also be using a printer (laser print) the reason why I chose to use the laser printer is because it is fast and lasts for a very long time. A print is crucial for the production and because the business only wants me to make a leaflet. They would like a fast printer to make the printing of the leaflet quicker. Although the laser printer cost more than the household one. The printing will be on a better quality and also much faster. It is better for me to use a standard PC rather than doing it on any thing else, because it’s more helpful, it’s a faster and better way.
