Blake Evans Eng Essay waiting Waiting has its pros and cons. In Enda's short essay she says that when you expect something to happen it will seem to take longer to happen but if you forget about it, it will seem to happen sooner. I agree with her because if you are constantly thinking about something happing you get preoccupied with it and every thing slows down because you are waiting for it. If you go on with your normal activities the event will seem to happen sooner because when it happens it will surprise you thus being more special. But I disagree with her when she implies that technology is bad because you don't have to wait as long. Technology has gotten advanced enough to be fast and accurate while also maintaining quality. As long as the information is provided exactly the way the customer wants it the waiting period can be as quick as possible. When people call a technical support line they want there question answered quickly and accurately but most of all accurately. People would rather have their question answered in 2 hours but be correct than wait 1 hour and be wrong. I don't know why any one would want to wait longer for a technical support answer than they have to. The answer would not be sweeter the longer they wait. This company is know for its speed not quality speed without quality is worthless people would much rather call a company that

Setting Up A Business

Setting Up A Business. My idea: My idea for setting up my new business is to create, manage and own my own 'Mobile Athletics Shop'. This will consist of selling athletics merchandise, engraving medals and embroidering/personalizing any clothing the consumer needs. This is very beneficial for me, as I will bring the merchandise to the customers instead of having a place in which they need to go. I will not have to worry about a premise, as my business idea is to have a transportation of athletics merchandise, an embroidering machines and an engraving machine all on the one lorry load. As I have all the knowledge of athletics, being an athlete, this will help me immensely as I will know what to buy and I will know what the customer needs from personal experience. Throughout my athletics I have found that it is really hard to get hold of cheap athletics equipment and is never really easily accessible so from my experience I can help the new generation of athletics everywhere. Market: My market is hoped to be aimed at any level of athlete needing athletics merchandise at low prices and will be available to a range of ages. From the market research I produced I found that all athletes were in favour of the idea and believed it to be an excellent way to encourage all athletes around the world to take up athletics and for the more advanced athletes to improve there performance

Reasons For Setting Up In Business Many people set up in business simply because they prefer to be their own boss and work at their own pace. Other reasons are a reaction to circumstances. A common one is frustration at work. This may be due to a failure to obtain promotion. It may be a dislike of the way the company is run or the people who run it. Or it may be an inability to get ideas, or inventions, adopted. In short, individuals believe either that they are not being given credit for their ability or that they can do it better than their employers. Unfortunately, redundancy is frequently the reason to get started. It does have the advantage that a career is not at stake - it having already been lost - and that some finance may be available from a redundancy payment. Other reasons come from a desire for independence or the wish to make money. Certainly such people expect to make money but the fun of independent decisions and achievements are more important to many. Indeed, planning for expansion and the achievement of a steadily

WHY IS IT THAT SOME SMALL BUSINESSES FAIL?

WHY IS IT THAT SOME SMALL BUSINESSES FAIL? It is hard to measure the size of a business. According to The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), an SME can be described as a business that employs between 0-49 people. However a company such as a Chemical Plant may employ less than 49 people but have a turnover of £20 million. So according to the number of employees, the DTI would class it as a small business. However, according to the level of turnover it could be classed as a large business. The size of the firm is generally measured by the amount employed1. The amount of SME's is forever increasing. There are many reasons for the increase, such as; improved technology, ability to sub-contract part of business and public sector being encouraged to become smaller. There is also Push and Pull factors that help people come to the decision to be self-employed. "Push factors" include people who are unemployed or made redundant decide to venture on their own. This may be simply starting their own window cleaning service. Another "push factor" is the "Pratt factor" this is when an employee finds himself working for someone else less talented and wonders 'why am I working for you?' so decides to start up on his own. The amount of SME's is forever increasing. There are many reasons for the increase, such as; improved technology, ability to sub-contract part of business and public
